Flipped Classroom
Flipped Classroom
The approach of "Flipped Classroom" fits to its name. It turns the concept of teaching upside-down. I knew that "flip" was a term used to show a change either horizontally or vertically but I had never heard before about it. Like most of my friends, when our teacher told us that we were going to be part of an online class we were a little bit unprepared. Initially we thought to log in from "Brothers" PC's but then decided to omit that idea altogether since they are not the cheapest place around. To cut things short 305 was our final choice. The poor internet signal of "ED" let me down so I was obliged to rely on my tethering hotspot being helped by Marina's charger. We all saw what "Flipped Classroom" was so that would do as the best definition drawn from real-life experience.
Being provided with devices and services such as a laptop and a good internet connection the advantages of FC approach are numerous. In a way students are used to accessing information online and nowadays fortunately or unfortunately it has become the main source of information and telling them not to use it, is like flogging a dead horse. Students can access content at any time and they can go to and fro, something that while in traditional class in not possible. However we must provide a list of trusted sites. Also things are more practical, so more doing and less talking.
On the other hand some students might struggle with the internet connection (scientifically proven). In cases when the students have to see a video it might be difficult to understand and this might led to the wrong interpretation of it. Let's be honest: we all relied on the comments of that YT video we saw in order to come up with an interpretation of it. Also we were rushing against the time to meet those 10 minutes "deadlines". Anyway all these are not as important as the question to come: Can a good student featuring Google + Incognito + Mozilla be more than enough to cheat during Flipped Classroom???

Really interesting tittle, upside down and things you mention in the post are real problems.
ReplyDeleteI like your post Kleo it's really interesting and you've mentioned everything about flipped classrooms.I like the fact that you have mentioned the internet connection because if we had problems with it,it's impossible to post.Thank u
ReplyDeleteYeah, actually the name of the approach explains quite well the approach's meaning.Actually,I logged in from Brothers' PC's.''Telling students not to use technology and get information online is like flogging a dead horse.''Congrats on using the idiom and I think the same as you do about it.I advise you not to overgeneralize things because not all of us relied on the comments of that YT video to come up with our own interpretations.Personally,I didn't even have a look at those comments. However,I do agree with you that we were all rushing against the time to meet those 10 minutes 'deadlines'.As for the question in the end,I think that if a student cheats,he is no longer a good student but just a cheater.Well done Kleo!
ReplyDeleteOr he can be just a good student that cannot say NO to his friends.
DeleteI really enjoyed it . You bring to us a real experience of us last time. We were in a chaos abut we did it good at least .To answer your question I can say yes they can cheat because there is nothing to stop them to do so . Thanks for asking and I am happy I helped you .
ReplyDeleteI really liked the way you explained what happened during that hour.
ReplyDeleteAs your final question...I cant say it for sure, cheated is cheating online or not.
Good job 😊
I do agree with all the troubles we had the previous hour since it was the first time doing this and we had no idea how this strategy works. It was something new and interesting and as for your question I was wondering if you kleant, found out the answer of your own question
ReplyDeleteSince one can log in with 5 gmail account from one PC I think that it might be possible.
DeleteLove it! What a wonderful job you're doing. Keep it up!
ReplyDeletethose problems are hiting us for real. every app its a tool that helps us what we are looking for. it looks like you are completely against the flipped classroom.
ReplyDeleteOverall I truly like your post.
Just no! I am not against FC. I was just saying that it requires a lot of preparation. That's all.
DeleteWhat a question have you possed at the end.
ReplyDeleteWell, that is to be seen. However a good students is not always the ones who gets good marks, right?
Cheating is a kind of value and moral thing, however the oppourtunities to cheat are considerably huge.
There's a dilemma inhere.
